After working on the basement floor for several months, I decided I need a workbench. So I searched the web and found some good plans here. With a few minor modifications to the plans (like using 4x4s instead of 2x4s for the posts), I finished the project in about 12 hours total. It took a while because I was still working on the floor. Sure would have been nice to have a workbench to use to build my... workbench.
Anyway, here's a pic:

My bike has been in storage since 2004 (when we moved into a 3rd-floor apartment). I finally got it fixed up (oiled the chain, tightened the brakes, and replaced a flat tube) and took it for a ride through the park to campus and back. It felt great, partly because I've been needing a good way to get exercise, and partly because I don't have to depend on the bus anymore while Shana is at work.

From the ISU Daily:
Reece MacDonald, freshman in business, sits in his kayak as he and his friends grill food Thursday afternoon in an area of Brookside Park that had been flooded by recent rain. The friends reached the bench by kayak and canoe.

We've had a sneaky mouse in the kitchen for about a week. I first noticed him when I found an open box of raisin bran with a hole chewed in the bag. I set up a webcam in the kitchen one night with a motion-detecting surveillance program. This is the resulting video. We caught him in a trap the following day, so this is his final performance.
